RFL Freebie: Painting the entire grid PURPLE on June/1st

Sams Secret RFL FREEBIE PURPLE Satin Lingerie
“Join us, show your support and wear purple on June 1st.
On the first day of June, if you are going for a stroll or if you are having a party with friends, wear a purple ribbon, toss on purple clothes, turn your house lavender even – and yell out to the world that you support the fight in against cancer!
This idea came out of a Relay For Life Group Chat, where the subject was about giving support to those who are in the waiting stage in their fight against cancer, pointing out how hard and scary that part is and how support from others helps so much easy, just knowing others are there.
When Jasmine, Zoie, Tari, Kat, Nikkie, Spaci, Jane – relay volunteers – started talking about how in real life whole towns would turn purple to show support for the fight against cancer; they decided it would be an awesome idea to do the same here in SL. Not everyone has money to give or even time to spend, but everyone can wear purple.
COME ON! Purple Day doesn’t cost one red cent or one virtual linden. Instead you have the chance to show your support for the fight against cancer just by helping to turn SL purple. Let’s show RL that we are ONE WORLD and WE SUPPORT EACH OTHER! GO RELAY!“
When I received this notecard inworld this week I thought: my best way to help to paint the grid purple is preparing some clothes! But… no time to prepare a new outfit in time… so I made this special version of my new release in purple as a special RFL PURPLE FREEBIE
So nobody need to spend lot of money to be “purple-prepared” to paint the grid purple on June/1st!

RFL Purple Day
I hope you enjoy!
Visit my store at Rue DAntibes, take the freebie bag nearby the RFL logo, and please, help to spread the word about it:
Let’s PAINT THE GRID PURPLE on June/1st to RFL !!

PS: by the way… I also set a special 50%OFF price on 5 of my old dresses (all in purple/plum/pink of course), from today till June/1st. Shhhhh….. Here are some of the photos:

Sam’s Secret Satin Lingerie

Some times all you need is a gorgeous satin lingerie… like this one I’m launching this week.
I started designing it with the jaguar texture created to FDC, because I was wishing to see this texture on a non-wild outfit… but… a satin lingerie is always dangerous, isn’t it? lol
Two additional colors are also available at this point: red and blue. By the way, the blue version has a special launching price: only 50$L during this weekend. Enjoy! (See what Belle Lefavre blogged about it!)
Available at Sam’s Secret Boutique store at Rue DAntibes 160/160/28.
There are also some other secret colors and secret textures that will be launched exclusive for RFL fundraising during RFL fashion shows next month. I’ll keep you posted!
kisses,
Samsara Nishi

Ivey Deschanel and Eolande Elvehjem
As part of Fashion Designers Challenge, today I’m blogging about Ivey Deschanel and Eolande Elvehjem. And OMG they did so great together!
Previously of receiving our challenges, each one of us, designers, were trying to guess how “out of the box” could be the individual challenge definition we had to create, compared with our “main” or “personal” style. Our expectations on that particular moment were indescribable!
I guess Ivey Deschanel, from Sn@tch, is an excelent example to show you how out of box a talented designer can go when challenged!
Ivey Deschanel was challenged by Sevenstar Amat to: “Design a classical suit with pants and jacket for ladies” – Sevenstar Amat
For all of you, who knows Ivey, you know “classical” is not tradicionaly her “style of choice”
and for those who don’t know her yet (hmmm… maybe only noobs don’t know her yet…. anyway) the name of her brand shows you how non-classic is her store: Sn@tch !!
On her own words: “The FDC event has been a ton of fun and a great experience. I adore doing these kinds of things cause making something so completely out of my element really expands my experience as a designer and gives me incentive and really…permission to try new things.” – Ivey Deschanel

Ivey Deschanel and Eolande Elvehjem
And this is exactly one of the main points of this FDC event! When the designer is talented and creative, just like Ivey, the result of such challenge is amazing!
And it is loved by people with all sort of tastes: by those who loves classic outfits, and also by those who loves Ivey’s style
The dress Ivey created is absolutely classic! The colors, the skirt style, the skirt length under knees, you name it!
She took care of each litle detail to make sure it looks classic, as the backstich red fashion top, and the back sewing on the socks!
But! If you look close… you will recognize Sn@tch style also printed on this classic dress! Don’t you? Just like this skin been shown on the back insinuating a daring spirit inside a classic suit!
And here we go: another look of the same outfit, now wearing only the fashion top and the pants.
The two temporary stores with all FDC products will be officialy close today… so if you hurry you still can buy Apprentice Dress today over there:
Road to Oz (157, 137, 25) and Snatch Ciky (71, 51, 30)
After that, you will have to visit each designer’s store to buy your outfits! Ivey Deschacel main store is at Snatch City/118/213/30
Now let’s take a look on Eolande’s challenge!
Eolande Elvehjem was challenged by Alexandar Vargas to: “I challenge you to create a piece that is impossible to own in real life, something unique, something surreal that even the art community will look at as art. It must be something that can be worn, it has to be done using prim work. sculpted is ok, just not all sculpted. The piece has to be designed according to this poem.” - Alexandar Vargas

Ivey Deschanel and Eolande Elvehjem
Anguish Poem: “”
It is amazing how Alexandar’s poem deep touched Eolande, so she asked support from her fiance, as her way to deal with the main subject of the poem: anguish of love!
Perfect mood to create this outstanding jewelry!
I love how Eolande interpreted that! A dark red stone, just like the heart, been supported and embraced by the silver, creating hope to deal with the anguish of love.
This jewelry is really unique! It is a piece of art!
You can buy Anguish jewelry at Eolande Elvehjem main store is at Ohana Isle (200/58/22)
You can wear Eolande & Ivey on FDC Photo Contest! Check here the rules!
Now I’m looking forward to see what Ivey and Eolande will create on the next editio of the Fashion Designers Challenge event!
kisses

Sam’s Secret FDC Wild Jaguar Dress

Sams Secret FDC WILD Jaguar Dress
WooooT! Finally I’m posting about my own dress created as result of Fashion Designers Challenge.
First of all I would like to special thanks each one of the brave and talented designers who jumped into this project without knowing what style of outfit they would have to create. This event would be impossible without their creative and open minds to inspire and challenge each other to create: Aleri Darkes, Alexandar Vargas, Amutey Decuir, Annah Whitfield, Anubis Hartunian, Candy Cerveau, Clio Cardiff, Danielle Harrop, Digit Darkes, Eolande Elvehjem, Felicity Overlord, Ina Centaur, Indyra Seigo, Ivey Deschanel, Jamie Holmer, Kesseret Steeplechase, Leah McCullough, Mew Denimore, Mouse Mimistrobell, Nardya Rousselot, Neferia Abel, Nyte Vargas, Pushbutton Skolnick, Samsara Nishi, SavannahAnn McMillan, Sevenstar Amat, Sheltered Heart, Shir Dryke, Sioxie Legend, Sofi Sullivan, SySy Chapman, Tatianna Faulkes, Tigerlily Koi, Tuli Asturias and Wiccan Sojourner. I love you all!
Well… I was challenged by Anubis Hartunian to create “a dress that makes you think of the Jungle and its dangers, giving the same emotions as being in the wild jungle.” Anubis Hartunian
The real challenge to me here was how to transmit an emotion!
To get inspired to create I tried to imagine what would happen if a fashion designer get LOST in a wild jungle (without Jack and Sawyer to help her
What would she be wearing some time later if this situation persist?
The nature is a powerful inspirational source! Lot of interesting materials to be used on outfits! But, you know… a fashion designer wants beauty! Isn’t jaguar one of the beautiests leather available on a wild jungle?
I also tried to be faithful to the main request from Anubis: to transmit the emotion of been in a wild jungle. To do that, I realized this fashion designer lost in the jungle didn’t has a “sewing kit” with her to cut and sew the Jaguar leather… So she improvised only with the things she found in the jungle…
This way, she wrapped wrap up herself into some jaguar leather irregular strips, fixing each end of the leather strips on coconut shell rings.
The original and main look of this dress is the all jaguar leather dress:

Sams Secret FDC WILD Jaguar Dress
And there are also available other options: a brown leather skirt with few Jaguar details:

Sams Secret FDC WILD Jaguar Dress in BROWN
Also available the scupled belt and the fashion top as standalone items, so you can, for example, take only them to wear with your fav jeans creating a casual look.

Sams Secret FDC WILD Jaguar FASHION TOP
If you buy the FAT PACK, you have several options to create different looks, including long skirts, and also layer options! Some point in the future this same outfit will be available with red snake leather instead of jaguar.

Two temporary stores with all FDC products will be open till May/17th. The stores are located at:

Sam’s Secret Maseno One-Of-A-Kind Gown

Sams Secret Maseno OOAK Gown
Some time ago I was invited as special speaker on Mimmi Boa’s class at SuperELITE Modeling Agency, and that was such a delighted experience! At the end of the class, Mimmi told me about her Maseno Project II, and invited me to join this fund raising effort creating an one of a kind dress to be auctioned.
I felt absolutely honored to be invited, but at that point I was with 110% of my SL time focused on the organizational aspects of Fashion Designers Challengeevent. So I asked her only two small conditions to be able to join Maseno Project: first: to be featured on the last possible fashion show - so I would have enough time to prepare the special one of a kind dress -, and the second condition, of course, was to ask to all models wear red hair when featuring Sam’s Secret Boutique.
And here we go!
Sam’s Secret Maseno One-of-a-Kind Gownwill be presented and auctioned this Friday, May 8th at 1pm SLT, during the Fashion Show presented by SuperElite.
SuperElite presents Maseno Project II: Garments of Hope
When: Friday, May 8th 2009 1 PM SLT
Where: Stadium runway on Fashionista
I was wishing to create a delicate and strong dress at the same time. Is it possible?
I picked a yellow-orange-light red shades palette to create the body and main skirt textures, but that was not enough… so I created an over-skirt with little stars, and they print the delicate and smooth touch I was looking for when moving.
To represent the strong aspect I added this red snaked fall that absolutely catches your eyes when walking.
Believe me, this is the kind of gown you only fully get the picture when checking it live! So I invite all of you to join Maseno Project II: Garments of Hope presented by SuperElite Friday, May 8th at 1 pm SLT.
I hope you enjoy!
kisses,

FDC – Sevenstar Amat and Felicity Overlord
During the fashion show yesterday a bunch of designers were sit together to cheer the outfits presented by the models, and it was a lot of fun! Most of anything else, this event gave me the chance to make good new friends, and strengthen the friendship with old friends!
At the end of the day, this was my main goal when I came up with this Fashion Designers Challenge idea: to create an opportunity to fashion designers work together influencing each other to create. And to be able to make this happen, we need collaboration.
Oh! Of course, once we had all this hard work to make this happen, we can also sell some outfits… lol…
And collaboration is exactly what we can see as the results of this team I’m be bloging about: Sevenstar Amat and Felicity Overlord.
Sevenstar Amat as clothes designer was challenged by Indyra Seigoto create: “I’d like to see someone create an ensemble inspired by a peacock
. Can be a pants suit, cocktail dress, gown or even men’s attire. ” - Indyra Seigo
Felicity Overlord as shoes designer was challenged by Nyte Vargasto: “We want some shoes that can bring out the feeling in the following statement… “I live within the Darkness, dance among the shadows waiting and watching those of the light. I feel their emotion, their desires and feed in a frenzy. “” - Nyte Vargas
And as you can see on the photo, their items fit just perfect together!
Now let’s take a close look to each one of them.
I remember the very first thing Sevenstar told me when she was challenged by chance by Indyra: “I already made a peacock dress in the past.” I’m really not sure about how she was feeling when she told me that back in the very first day… what I can say you is: as a RL artist and a talented SL fashion designer, Sevenstar accepted the challenge and came up with an innovative and brilliant “outside box” gown as the result!
For sure she reached Indyra’s challenge to create an ensemble inspired by a peacock. And, as you can see on the photos, she made it in a very creative way!
Playing with unexpected elements and colors – if you take a “traditional peacock dress” as reference - her creative mind came up with a ” must have” gown.
I’m absolutely sure she had lot of fun creating this gown stitch by stitchjust as she had back in the past, when she was a little kid: “My origins in making fashion are familly tradition, as my grandma and her mother and grandgranny were great dress makers. I remember myself as a little, sitting in my grandmas sewing salon and watching her working from the child perpective, myself armed with a giant pair of scissors cutting feistly gaps into my grannies fabrics and making dresses for my dolls.“ Sevenstar Amat
Oh! Her dress also includes this gorgeous red hair.
(By the way, talking about “outside box”… Sevenstar challenged Ivey Deschanel from Sn@tch to design a classical suit for ladies.
And, yes!, Ivey – who loves challenges – made it brilliantly also! )
You can check (and buy) FDC Stitch by Stitch Peacocks Love Dress inworld at Road to Oz (157, 137, 25).
How about the shoes of this outfit by Felicity Overlord?
Felicity is very brave, and very committed with teamwork. She accepted to receive 2 different challenges, so she worked with 2 different clothes designers during the event!
This stiletto Felicity made as team with Sevenstar, is the result of the challenge she received by Nyte Vargas- who, by the way, is also very brave because Nyte also accepted 2 different challenges: one as clothes designer and another as skin designer!
Felicity said she decided to start to create her shoes for this challenge under a chaotic mood. And each piece of her stilettos has a different meaning to reach Nyte’s challenge:
“Silver soles represent shadows. The toe ring represents the current emotion of the wearer…show or hide….be seen or wait until that perfect moment.” – Felicity Overlord
The interesting thing is: Felicity works under collaboration mode for long time… she invited Kimbra McMillan of Beloved Jewelry – who did not take part in the Fashion Designers Challenge – to supply the toe ring to her shoes. (By the way, the toe ring is scripted, and can be shown or hidden by touch.)
The final result is just lovely!! The photo shows the silver version, and the stilettos are also available in Black, in Garnet and in Gold.
You can check (and buy) *FO* Frenzy Stilettos inworld at Road to Oz (157, 137, 25).
Keep and eye on Fashion Designers Challenge Blog, and designers blogs also to know more about each one of the FDC creations!
And visit Road to Oz (157, 137, 25) inworld if you wanna see all of them together.
I hope you enjoy!
kisses,
FDC Teaser
OMG! I’m so happy to tell you just more few days and we will be sharing with you the results of those creative minds inspired and challenged by each other to create! On this photo you “can’t” see Sevenstar Amat and Felicity Overlord work, but I’ll be blogging about both of them soon!

- 2nd Fashion Show: May/16th at 6 PM SLT at Patch Thibaus Auditorium - Couture Boulevard/67/66/3015
Everyone who joined this team were brave enough to accept the challenge to join the event as fashion designer without knowing what the style of outfit they would have to create… They challenged each other to create maybe something different from their usual… And, believe me, there are stuning and breathtaking items!
The brave designers who joined this project are: Aleri Darkes, Alexandar Vargas, Amutey Decuir, Annah Whitfield, Anubis Hartunian, Candy Cerveau, Clio Cardiff, Danielle Harrop, Digit Darkes, Eolande Elvehjem, Felicity Overlord, Ina Centaur, Indyra Seigo, Ivey Deschanel, Jamie Holmer, Kesseret Steeplechase, Leah McCullough, Mew Denimore, Mouse Mimistrobell, Nardya Rousselot, Neferia Abel, Nyte Vargas, Pushbutton Skolnick, Samsara Nishi, SavannahAnn McMillan, Sevenstar Amat, Sheltered Heart, Shir Dryke, Sioxie Legend, Sofi Sullivan, SySy Chapman, Tatianna Faulkes, Tigerlily Koi, Tuli Asturias and Wiccan Sojourner.
