Sam’s Secret SCISSORS Collection
You know Sam’s Secret Boutique is all about wearing different stuff depending on our mood… And Sam’s Secret SCISSORS Collection is all about mood!
I confess!! I hate system skirts! As simple as that!
From time to time I try it again, and I always end up frustraded…
Sam’s Secret SCISSORS Collection was born when I was tring to create a red tight dress using system skirt. Even after several shots I was never happy with the final results.
Some point after several hours tring, I had a hysterical attack! I took a scissors, cut the system skirt in strips, and created a beatiful fashion top with the pieces. This pants set is the result of my hysterical mood.
Some time later (after practicing some tai chi), I decided to try the red satin dress once again… now using a prim skirt. This gorgeous gown is my output.
Both are available at Sam’s Secret Boutique main store: Rue DAntibes 160, 160, 28.
There are two main points that anoy me when wearing system skirts: First: Can someone, please, explain me why it doesn’t fit the waist line? There is always this “step” in your body between the system skirt and the shirt. This is so anoying… First I thought it was lack of experience, than I noticed it happens with other designers as well. This is the way the system skirts are…
Second, I hate how my butt seens giant when wearing system skirts, almost an elephant. And I can tell you this is not a shape problem, because I don’t have this anoying feeling when wearing pants with this same shape… I don’t know how to explain that, it just doesn’t look harmonious to me. Ok, maybe I should try it again with an extra-slim shape… but I’m not confortable with this idea.
And, of course, there is also the texture stretch issue. But this is not so anoying to me as the 1st and 2nd are.
Well… maybe I’ll try system skirts once again… but not today!

SL Shakespeare Company’s SOS Fundraising Campaign
Some days ago I was hardly working to have everything finished in time to Sam’s Secret Boutique Fashion Show, when suddenly I received a SOS request from a friend…
You know, there are some people who do absolutly everything with passion! And I believe Ina Centaur is one of them! It is really hard to try to decribe Ina to you, once she does so many different and passionate things in SL!
Maybe the best way to describe her is as a passionated artist.
For sure it will be better if you know Ina by her own words: http://blog.inacentaur.com/ Anyway let me just tell you some of roles I know she has: Artistic Director of the SL Shakespeare Company, Fashion Designer who creates all the skins and costumes to SL Shakespeare plays inworld, owner of IC-Skins (I’m sure you already saw Another Reality skins!!), RFL team captain, etc, etc…
I first met her last RFL season, when she was doing an amazing job to fundraising as team captain and team member of several teams.
When I saw someone like Ina, who usualy help people, asking for help… I was wondering how could be the best way to support her. Rezzing her fundraising kiosk on my store, and helping her to spread the word about her fundraising campaign are some of the answers…
For those of whom hadn’t the chance to know SL Shakespeare Company yet, I’m cut & pasting a brief introduction about them from the http://www.slshakespeare.com/ site: “In Shakespeare’s era, a group of thespians joined together to break grounds in creating revolutionary theatres and plays. Their work can be said to be the foundational basis for modern theatre. The SL Shakespeare Company exists to relive that spirit; by bringing to the metaverse the Bard’s plays—which were written and performed in an era of nascent theatre—we hope to break grounds in developing theatre in Second Life by creating a kind of theatre only possible in the metaverse.“
Please, read her press release bellow, and help as you can!
Thank you,
cheers,
Samsara Nishi

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shakespeare, Second Life: Though hinted at on more than one occasion,
Ina Centaur yesterday officially announced the SL Shakespeare
Company’s SOS “Save Our Sims” Fundraising Campaign—its purpose,
according to Centaur, is to meet “a modest though desperately needed
sum to pay land tier fees to Linden Lab.” Through funding from
microeconomics a la a grid-wide network of donation kiosks, the “SOS”
campaign goal is to meet L$1.5 million by January 21, 2009, which at
the current LindeX rate for selling would translate to about USD$5300,
meeting six month’s tier for three of the island sims that host the SL
Globe Theatre venue and similarly daring literary and artistic
projects. Centaur plans to fund the fourth sim through her own
endeavors, to keep the SL Globe Theatre four sims in size, as well as
to continue existing endeavors on the sims in trying to make the
enterprise self-sufficient.
At high noon on November 21st, Ina Centaur, Artistic Director of the
SL Shakespeare Company, greeted a small crowd of fans and supporters
at the SL Globe Theatre before launching a speech that revealed the
funding state of the Company, as well as some unexpected humanitarian
results of their endeavors. The Company’s performances have reached
both those in rural areas and also low-income urban districts,
introducing many to the culture of theatre and Shakespearean
performances. Centaur summarized with the words, “Perhaps the greatest
thing that has evolved from our endeavors is that it has become a
truly humanitarian cause that we are fighting for—to bring theatre to
the farthest reaches of the world, to give Shakespeare to those who
would not have had the chance to experience his words in the live and
intimate form they were written for, to use this nascent medium to
bring the most quintessential culture to the metaverse and beyond.”
Various donation kiosks are available for those who wish to help the
SL Shakespeare Company in their campaign. Supporters may drop by the
SL Globe Theatre or the Campaign headquarters, directly to obtain
copies of kiosks. The Campaign website contains up-to-the-second stats
and other information, as well as links to the inworld Campaign
headquarter to obtain kiosks http://campaign.SLshakespeare.com
Centaur explained that a 4-sim venue is a necessity for their shows,
“To make sure all can attend, and to minimize the lag.” In addition,
the sims listed on the main SOS banners—sLiterary, Shakespeare, and
Primtings—also support several other notable literary and artistic
projects. Centaur stated the best way to find out about each is to
spend some time exploring the sims, or to visit their campaign website
above for brief summaries.
Although many may consider Centaur’s activites to be merely great art,
after mentioning a few examples of lives their endeavors have touched,
she summarized their goal as of a greater significance, “Our goal is
to create good within Second Life for the world to thrive from—because
it is possible. We have been doing it, and we want to continue doing
it, but we won’t be able to if we become homeless—we would have
neither the energy or the base to go from.”
Centaur concluded the session with the haunting words, “You are our
last hope. If you can’t help us, then I’m afraid to say we are truly
lost.”
Sam’s Secret AVONA Outfit
As you all know… last October I launched the first Sam’s Secret Boutique Photo Contest. And I asked each one of the girls who joined it to write a short text sharing their secret thoughts and secret feelings when shoting the photos.
Part of the Grand Prize of that photo contest would be a custom outfit designed by me inspired by the winner photo and the winner’s secret…
Avona Ryba won the photo contest. This outfit was launched last Saturday during Sam’s Secret Boutique Fashion Show, and it was inspired by “Avona’s Secret“: “This island fills me with memories of long hot days spent on sparkling white sands, crystal clear waters rolling and splashing white diamonds against rocks.. sultry nights filled with abandoned thoughts and laughter as warm flesh meets with cool moonlit waters.. gasps of sheer wicked delight as we slip naked into the ocean on a perfect summer night.. ” – Avona Ryba
I did a field trip with Avona to know her secret and magic place, an amazing island with sparkling sea and white sands… Once there, I asked what could she tell me about what she loves, so I could get inspired by her to create her grand prize outfit. She told me she loves warm colors. Black influences her as well. She also shared she loves unexpected and edgy details on her clothes, including a litle bit of feminility and a litle bit of wicked. Looking around on her secret and magic place, she started sharing what makes that place so magic for her: it is a romantic place, a perfect place to sing herself. Warm sultry nights… Sparking ocean… Splashing diamonds of water… Watch the waves ebbing on the sands…
Avona is such a cool and inspiring girl! And she was so kind to write me those sweet words after she received her Sam’s Secret Avona Outfit:
“Dear Sam..
I wanted to take a moment to say a BIG BIG thankyou for letting me share in the excitement and passion of your creativeness.. I love Sams Secret Avona Outfit. The colours are wonderful and remind me every bit of the ocean and sunset. Both outfits are elegant with a sassy wide brimed hat. So pretty to look at. I wear them both with a sparkle in my eye because they are kinda wickedly sexy and fun too…… so so perfect for long hot lazy summer days on a secluded island……… shhhh though its a secret…… not anymore!!!!! …
Thank you Sam you are amazing” – Avona Ryba
I thank you so much, Avona, for inspiring me to design this outfit !!
This outfit is perfect to hang out in a magic place like this one Avona shared with us! The outfit includes 2 different looks: the first one is an front open dress, and the second one is an front open culottes. It also includes a flex fashion top, a scupt hat and a bikini (only the bottom!! once this magic place ask for a topless sunbath!
lol
The outfit is available in 2 different colors: in SUNSET Shades and in Sparkling SEA.
I hope you also enjoy it! Available at Rue DAntibes 160, 160, 28.
cheers,
Samsara Nishi
